Jim's story
Jim was shaving when he suddenly fainted and fell on his bathroom floor. After the fall, Jim visited the ER with head injuries and moderate back pain. He was put in a back brace and prescribed pain medication. After several days of worsening back pain, Jim returned to the ER and learned he had suffered an L1 vertebral compression fracture. This time, he was sent home with an even larger back brace and his pain only continued to worsen. After days of excruciating pain, he visited another doctor who recommended vertebral augmentation. Jim enthusiastically agreed to have the procedure the very next day. “The procedure was completed in a short amount of time and my pain was ALL gone. I had my life back,” Jim says. “To me, it was nothing short of a miracle. I went back to doing yard work, gardening, mowing, edging and trimming!”
Janet's story
Janet fell and missed the last step coming down the stairs at her home. After the fall, she had an aching pain that she thought would go away. Instead, the pain worsened, and after two weeks Janet went to the doctor. An MRI showed a T11 vertebral compression fracture. Janet was scheduled for a vertebral augmentation with iVAS Elite balloon system. The case went flawlessly, and Janet experienced 100% pain relief within 48 hours. “After surgery, I could get out of bed with no pain,” she says. “I feel great! Two weeks later, I returned to my daily activities.” Janet’s daughter, Cherie, is a Stryker employee working within the interventional spine division. She helped advocate for Janet and encouraged her to seek treatment.
